ACCA Pakistan holds New members ceremony 2009
ACCA Membership title is recognition for members who have proven their in-depth academic knowledge through rigorous examinations and have completed three years of relevant professional experience along with unique professionalism and ethics module.
ACCA Pakistan organised New members ceremony 2009 at a local hotel in Lahore today. Mr. Shafqat Ahmed, Country Head Pakistan, Albaraka Islamic Bank was the chief guest while Mr. Mujtaba Shujah ur Rehman, Minister for Education, Excise & Taxation Punjab was the guest of honour at the occasion.

The evening commenced with welcome remarks by Mr Arif Masud Mirza, Head of ACCA Pakistan who congratulated the Members on their achievement and lauded their contribution in reinforcing ACCA’s brand image by living ACCA values of accountability, innovation, integrity, opportunity and diversity. He further said that ACCA champions global standards of professionalism and ethics and our reputation for integrity andaccountabilityprovides a firm foundation for the positive standing of our Members.
Mr. Mujtaba Shujah ur Rehman discussed about the recent trends of harmonization and globalization in financial reporting has increased challenges faced by developing countries and particularly countries in economic transition phase, as here the financial infrastructure is weak and educational bodies face the challenge of building capacity for sustainable economic development.
But the foreign education bodies including ACCA have essentially played a vital role in improving the standard of accounting education in our country and pose healthy competition to the public sector.
The Chief Guest, Mr. Shafqat Ahmed, lauded ACCA Pakistan’s initiatives and commendable progression in the field of Accounting and Finance. He expressed profound appreciation to the members for their professionalism and later presented certificates to them.
The keynote speaker Ms. Urooj Sohail FCCA, Branch Manager (DHA), Bank Alfalah Limited ACCA member, in her address, congratulated the new members on their remarkable achievement and appreciated ACCA’s outstanding contribution in cultivating human talent in field of Accountancy and Finance. Ms. Maheen Saqib, Incharge Purchase and Payments, Packages Limited delivered a speech on behalf of all ACCA members.
The ceremony was attended by the ACCA Approved Employers including Albaraka Islamic Bank, Haier Pakistan, Ford Rhodes Sidat Hyder, Wartsila Pakistan pvt. Ltd, Treet Group of Companies, Packages Pvt Ltd, Coca-cola Beverages Pakistan Limited Ltd., MCB Bank Ltd, Millat Tractors Limited. The event aimed at giving the new Members and the employers an opportunity to leverage relationships with in the ACCA community.
