While the citizen of Karachi Continue to suffer at the hand of Gunmen, terrorist and political party workers trying to settle old scores. Remember in last 2 days more then a dozen people had died as result of gun violence in the city.

The Karachi City Police(an extension of Sindh Police) continues to extorts money from citizens.

It has become a routine by police to stop young drivers entering Tipu Sultan hear Shaheed-e-Millat Intersection.
Their Typical approach is

After flagging the car to a stop
-They force the driver to open the passenger door.
-Then they go through the glove compartment ask for documents.
-If they are lucky and you have left out something at home then the bargaining starts with a mild threat
-However if you have all the documents then the discussion boils down to Straight Threat or Begging (yes begging)

They will ask you for some money, money for tea, money for petrol, money because you can afford a car, money because it says on your driver license that you live in a good neighborhood or they will ask for money simply because they can ask.

They also tend to stop the same car again and again and make a repeat customer.

And the difficult part is that they are now asking for not small sums but bigger amounts like Rs 500 or Rs1000 or more.

Once they identify that you belong to slightly reasonable income bracket they will get their money out. If you are not from the "reasonable" income bracket you will go with way some cash and lots of trauma and insult.

Most of the time it is the Policemen of Buhadrabad Police Vans.
