Some of the experts say that banks are responsible for worsening environmental conditions, increasing urban temperature and massive traffic jams throughout the city.

Yes, the banks are responsible. Experts say banks offer easy loans for everyone to buy the vehicles and thus the numbers of vehicles are increasing in the city. The engines are causing increase in temperature and carbon emission is affecting the environment but most serious problem is the traffic jams and ambulances get affected with these traffic jams.

Chief Volunteer Edhi Foundation, Faisal Edhi said that Bandar Road, Sadar, Liyari and Keamari town, the ambulances carrying 500 to 700 patients daily, getting lot of difficulties to move to JPMC, Civil Hospital and other major hospitals.

He suggested government to establish fully equipped trauma centers and emergency wards at Superhighway, National Highway and RCD Highway, the main entrances to this largest city of Pakistan.

The worsening situation of traffic jams in the city is not seems to be resolve as thanks to Shoukat Aziz (Prime Minister of Pakistan) who had allowed everybody to buy a car. The worsening situation of traffic jams in the city could be gauged from an example that Edhi ambulances get one and half hour to reach civil hospital from Liaqutabad, where as normally it takes only half hour to reach hospital.

Karachi is a cosmopolitan city, where the few major public sector hospitals are not provide treatment facilities for the citizens of Karachi but almost from all over the country patients are brought here. Edhi said that the city needs more then 120 trauma centers in different places, so volunteers may take emergency patient immediately to these centers.

Civil Hospital Karachi is the second largest public sector hospital of the province with 1780 beds after JPMC. Though ambulances carrying emergency patients get late after getting stranded in massive traffic jams in the Sadar, Liyari and Keamari towns but when these ambulances turn to Civil Hospital’s causality, they face difficulty to move easily as road is narrowed because of the illegal encroachments by push cart venders, taxi and Rickshaw drivers.
