I like to play squash whenever I get a chance. Its is a demanding sport. It is one of those sports that needs endurance, character, sharp thinking all within a space of very short time.

For me Squash is just a way to relax, kill the day’s tensions, beat the ball to extinction.

For others like Farhan, the kid who sells french fries at the PAF Museum, Karachi it is a passion. I first met Farhan at one of my practice sessions in a local club. Amazing kid!

I kept seeing and playing with him on and off for a while till I got busy, around same time he totally disappeared from the scene. It was not till he recognized me at the fries stall. Contrary to what you might be thinking, it did not give me a shock. It should have.

This is how we value our sportsmen, this is how we value passion. I think an opportunity here is being lost. Its is not what Farhan is loosing. Farahan and many other like him will make do . They have learned the ropes of living on the fringes of society. The opportunity being lost here is by us. It is the opportunity to look, live and learn through this (and many others like him) talented sportsman.

We need to capitalize on this opportunity. It is our due to the people.

Farhan has played in some good local tournaments however due to lack of sponsorship he is forced to remain the best fries vendor in town and cannot continue to polish his talents and future.

I think the Opportunity is Knocking for you to sponsor Farhan to make a better sportsman and possibly a legend if given his due.
